Verification Team
About Jewish Community
Jewish Community is the largest Orthodox Jewish community on Discord, connecting thousands of Jews and Noahides from around the world. Our mission is to create a welcoming space for Torah learning, genuine connection, and spiritual growth.
Role Overview
Verification Team Members review applications from people who want to join Jewish Community Server. You'll be the first point of meaningful contact for many prospective members, and your decisions help shape who becomes part of our community.
This is a remote volunteer role, and all the work happens on Discord. It requires patience, good judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive information with care.
Verification is about finding the right balance between being welcoming and being responsible. We want to bring people in, and we also need to protect the community. You'll be holding both of those things at once.
You'll work alongside verification leads and moderators to keep decisions consistent and well-documented. The role involves a lot of one-on-one conversations, some of which touch on personal or sensitive topics. The calls you make directly affect community safety and the experience of everyone in the server.
What You'll Do
You'll review verification tickets, ask follow-up questions when something needs clarification, and look for anything that raises concerns or doesn't quite add up. You'll make decisions based on established criteria, document what you find, and escalate cases that need a second opinion.
When you approve or deny someone, you'll communicate that decision clearly and respectfully. Even when the answer is no, people should walk away feeling like they were treated fairly.
What We're Looking For
You pay attention to details and stay calm when things get complicated. You're comfortable making thoughtful decisions even when you don't have all the information you'd like. You communicate well in writing and treat people with respect, even in difficult conversations.
Emotional maturity matters here. So does genuine respect for the diversity of Jewish backgrounds, practices, and experiences. Prior experience in verification, moderation, or trust and safety work helps, though we care more about sound judgment and taking the responsibility seriously.
What You'll Gain
You'll develop real skills in trust and safety, sensitive communication, and decision-making under uncertainty. This is a role with genuine impact. The work you do will directly shape the health and safety of the community.
