NewAbout Jewish Community
Jewish Community is the largest Orthodox Jewish community on Discord, connecting thousands of Jews and Noahides from around the world. Our mission is to create a welcoming space for Torah learning, genuine connection, and spiritual growth.
Role Overview
Moderators help keep Jewish Community Server a healthy, welcoming place for conversation and connection. You'll uphold community guidelines, support members, and step in when things go sideways. The work requires fairness, discretion, and steady judgment.
This is a remote volunteer role. Think of it as stewardship. You're looking out for the long-term well-being of the community, which sometimes means making calls that aren't popular in the moment. You'll need to act thoughtfully, communicate clearly, and stay grounded when tensions run high.
We bring on new moderators through structured onboarding periods throughout the year. This application is for cohorts beginning in March and April 2026.
What You'll Do
You'll monitor conversations, address rule violations and disruptive behavior, and help resolve conflicts calmly and respectfully. When members reach out with concerns, you'll listen and respond. You'll apply rules consistently and use Discord's moderation tools appropriately.
You'll also work closely with other staff to stay aligned on how we handle situations. Consistency matters. And you'll be expected to model the kind of respectful, grounded Jewish discourse we want to see throughout the server.
What We're Looking For
You care about maintaining healthy Jewish spaces online. You're comfortable making judgment calls when situations are messy or unclear. You stay calm and fair when disagreements get heated.
Strong communication, emotional maturity, and reliability are essential. So is genuine respect for the diversity of Jewish backgrounds, practices, and perspectives in our community. Prior moderation experience helps, but plenty of successful moderators have grown into the role through mentorship and time on the job.
If you don't meet every qualification, apply anyway. Moderation is a skill you develop. We're looking for thoughtful, self-aware people who are willing to learn.
What You'll Gain
You'll make a real impact on a growing Jewish community. You'll build experience in community leadership, conflict resolution, and decision-making. And you'll work alongside a team that takes this work seriously and supports each other through it.
